Ana Mafalda Castro has an intense and varied artistic carrier as soloist, chamber music, orquestra and opera, playing regulary in the most important festivals in Portugal with musicians like Anner Bylsma, Ketil Haugsand or Andrew Manze.
Playing often in Europe, she has also gone to México and Macau (China), but her participation in the ceremony held in Stocholm for José Saramago when receiving the Nobel Prize, is something she keeps specialy in her memory.
Ana Mafalda Castro is the harpsichord teacher and founder of the Early Music Department in Porto at ESMAE (Superior School of Music and Arts).
After finishing her piano studies in Porto she went to Holland where she studied harpsichord with Glen Wilson, Jacques Ogg and Bob van Asperen.
In 2002 did the premiere of “Il ritorno” a piece writen to her by the well known portuguese composer António Pinho Vargas.
