Recently founded string orchestra Camerata Alma Mater is composed of young Portuguese talents, already well distinguished in the musical panorama on a national and international level.
These musicians are absolute winners of several editions of Prémio Jovens Músicos, as well as prize winners of many internationals competitions. They hold distinguished positions of leaders in orchestra, members of artistic residencies and chamber music activity of great importance.
In the Camerata Alma Mater we find also the professors of these great talents: Aníbal Lima (violin) and Paulo Gaio-Lima (cello), who continue their artistic career of great distinction.
The Camerata is lead by Pedro Neves, one of the most promising Portuguese conductors, whose maturity and truthfulness of interpretations is remarkable. His large musical experience includes being a cellist, professor, and conductor.
Camerata Alma Mater played at the inauguration concert of festival “Música nos Açores” winning enthusiastic acceptance of the public as well as the critics.
The ambition of Alma Mater is to continue on their path of great professionalism , and to address the repertoire and sonority of a formation, that until now didn’t exist in our country.
